I have been luck enough to be asked if l would like to join the VERY CREATIVE DESIGN TEAM @ Kennys K Download Store as a Guest Designer. Opportunities like this don’t happen every day so l was delighted to be asked.
The first very hard decision l had to make was what image would l like to use. Now when l say that this was a hard decision trust me l mean it. There are so many GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS you don’t know where to look first.
I have been an avid purchaser of Kenny K’s designs now for a long time and have quite a few in my arsenal. The imagery when it come specially for Male themed cards are a NO BRAINIER!
All l can say is that if your frustrated at the lack of great ‘Fun’ imagery for men [Oh not forgetting that its not just Male themed... There are a LOT of other digital Images that will work for 99.9% of your card/crafting illustration needs.]
Not all men like Golf.. Football, Motorcar Racing etc. But a funny card with some great imagery will be a winner any time.
So why don’t you just click on this link below……to be directed to the store and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Right back to this project.
I wanted to do something that was a little different from what l normally do. This project was done 100% digitally. I am a member of a wonderful site that offers you great photographic imagery. The background and the Hounds are just 2 of the vast library of photographic imagery that l have. If your interested to know more then send me a message and l will point you in the right direction. [This is not the place to advertise another companies goodies].
The project was built up with approx 9 different layers. For example… the floating voile skirt she is wearing, that had to be done so that it looked as if it was see through you have to be able to see what’s below so by adding a colour then putting the fill to say 6% and then opting to use a layer filter then your able to bring thins in that will not just lay flat and hid things below.
Digital art is a wonderful creative arena. You don’t need a high end computer and the latest graphics tablet to do project like the one below. However l have to say that l have been involved with digital creativity now since Apple brought out their little computer with a 5 inch square screen and it had 10 Fonts on it, most of them were Times Bold, Italic, Bolt Italic so there was not a vast library like we now have available to us. So l have what over 20 + years of being in the ‘computer age’
I am still learning even today, there are wonderful how to do this and that on y-tube. This is a source of unlimited knowledge and we have to thank the people who have taken time out to share their knowledge with us all. Like wise if you do a search for say Photoshop textiles or Brushes for FREE yes FOR FREE there are hundred if not thousands of companies and individuals that have designed a set of brushes for us tom use. There is an untapped knowledge and product based pool out there all you need to do is search [dont just click on a download button, READ IT VERY CAREFULLY, then re -read it over again]. There are a lot of people out there that take great delight in messing up someones computer by putting nasty little bugs onto our systems. Its happened to me and its going to happen again l’m sure as l will forget what l have said and just press download.
Its also advisable to download to a separate hard rive that’s not driven by your main drive. This again is something l would advise anyone who is interested in Digital artwork to purchase a separate portable hard drive.
The price of them now a days is just crazy and they are a fraction of what they were when they first arrived on the scene. It also had the advantage of being portable meaning your able to use the digital imagery on your computer/laptop or if your working in a crafting/creative group your able to take them with you.
The only other tip as such is spend time watching y-tube videos on how to do this or get that effect and just play. Oh and ALWAYS and l MEAN ALWAYS work on a copy of the original Illustration or Photograph NEVER EVER work on the main copy.
When l start a project the first thing l do is open the illustration/photograph and then rename the file within the program that your using in my case its Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Elements. Then do a LAYER COPY or DUPLICATE the layer that the original illustration or photograph is on. You can then delete that layer or hide it just in case you need to make a duplicate of the original again.
Any questions about Digital work please send me a message and l will do my best to help you.
I’m NOT the worlds foremost knowledge base for this form of creativity far from it. Like you l learn things every day l honestly don’t think l will ever be able to say ‘I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT PHOTOSHOP or DIGITAL CREATIVITY!‘
Keep smiling, be happy and just play explore what this wonderful tool called a computer can do for your art. Oh and the best thing… YOU DON’T GET MESSY or HAVE TO WASH UP!
